6 people were reported dead and 6 others injured in a traffic accident in Yakar directorate, Dhamar province.
The accident took place due to a two-car crash, Colonel Khaled Mohammed Ana’am, Director of Traffic said.
Ana’am added that a Cressida crashed in to a Peugeot as a result of high speed leaving 6 people killed and 6 others injured. The 6 people injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
On the same regard and in an effort to prevent such horrible accidents to happen Kassem Taher Al-Maidama, a lawyer, intends to filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Public Works and Roads being responsible for imbalances and deficiencies in the public roads and streets implementation in the cities of the Republic and for violating the international standards and generally accepted standards for public roads.
Al-Maidama said that he is to file a lawsuit through his office in Sana’a before the competent court against the Ministry of Public Works and Roads represented by its Minister Engineer Omar Abdullah Al-korshomi and the head of the Road Maintenance Fund in addition to the Traffic Department contributing in maintaining public money and revealing corruption and imbalances.
Al-Maidama said that a large number of roads and streets that have been implemented recently across the country, unfortunately, do not meet the minimum engineering specifications required referring to what he called “death holes” those appear soon after implementing a new road . In addition, he also mentioned lack of traffic signals and signs at the dangerous corners to be another key reason that causes many traffic accidents, which cost the country enormous losses of lives and property.
“Corruption may be imagined at any institution in the country, however, when it comes to such a critical and a serious area that involves people’s lives then serious actions must be taken to protect innocent people who die due to corruption and negligence”, said Al-Maidama.
